3 Best Restaurants near your Memorial Apartments
For new residents at our community of Memorial apartments, the first few weeks after move-in are usually filled with tedious tasks like unpacking boxes, organizing shelves and assembling IKEA furniture. Moving into a new place is super exciting, but that buzz can wear off quickly once real life picks back up. If you’re tired of staring at the seemingly bottomless pile of boxes in your corner, maybe it’s time to get out and explore your new neighborhood.
The Energy Corridor townhomes at Alexan Ashford are outfitted with fully-equipped kitchens so residents can enjoy meals at home, from breakfast to dinner. However, we don’t blame you for wanting to get out of the house every once in awhile and eliminate the need to do dishes later. That’s why we put together a list of the top restaurants in the Memorial neighborhood.
These restaurants serve food that is so out of this world, you’ll never in a million years dream of asking for a to-go box. You and your friends will clean your plates, and you might even stick around to try dessert, just because the appetizers and entrees tasted that good.
After all, the mark of a good restaurant is that people actually consider getting dessert instead of dismissing the dessert menu right away. When the first couple courses blow you away, you usually decide that the dessert menu must be of similar quality. You’ll definitely find that to be the case at the restaurants listed below.
If you want to feel welcomed—immediately—upon stepping foot in a restaurant, Bistro Provence is the place. It’s a little French eatery tucked away on Memorial Drive, and the owner treats every guest like family. Her name is Genevieve Guy, and you should definitely check out her website by clicking the hyperlink above. She has a wonderful little note to her customers posted on the website’s homepage.
The owner grew up in France, and she decorated the restaurant herself based on inspiration from her childhood. The menu itself is distinctly French. In fact, you likely won’t be able to pronounce most of the dishes, but that’s how you know it’s authentic!
Hungry’s Yelp page is mostly filled with people gushing endlessly about the incredible food, the fun atmosphere and the varied menu. If you decide to go, we highly recommend the Mediterranean options, like the famous Hungry’s gyro. However, you can’t go wrong with the Black Bean Orzo Pasta Salad with grilled shrimp either. Hungry’s has been in Houston as long as anyone can remember, and the Energy Corridor location makes for a great introduction to the Houston restaurant scene. It’s not fine dining, by any means, but it’s authentic and delicious.
Finally, we have one of Houston’s most highly rated pizza restaurants. Bear in mind however, you won’t find grease, cheese stuffed, pepperoni covered pies at Pizaro’s. Instead, this Memorial establishment serves traditionally crafted neapolitan pizza. They cook their pizzas in 900-degree brick ovens for just 90 seconds, so the crust is nice and crispy and the middle of the pizza is nice and gooey.
